Who should be the next Korea national team coach? If you follow South Korean football at all, you have had this argument. Maybe in a group chat at two in the morning during the 2026 World Cup, maybe with your dad, maybe with a stranger in a pub in Itaewon. Everyone has a name. Nobody has a scoreboard.
That second part bothered me. Newspaper polls close after a week, forum threads get buried, and every coaching change in Korea produces the same list of rumoured names with no way to see which one the fans actually want. So I made a small app that does one thing: it keeps a running vote, open all year, for the past, present and possible future managers of the Korea national football team.

Why a Korea national team coach poll, and why now
Korea football has a habit of turning its head coach into a national debate. A manager gets appointed, the country splits in two, and a year later the same thing happens with the next coach. The 2026 World Cup only made the volume louder. What I wanted was a place where that debate leaves a trace — a number next to each name that moves as people vote, rather than a comment section that scrolls away.
The ranking screen is the heart of the app. It shows every candidate ordered by total votes, with a bar for scale and a medal for the top three. Pull down to refresh and you see the latest tally from everyone who has voted, not just your phone. When the board moves, you can share it as an image card and ask your friends the obvious question: who is your pick?
Three votes a day, and why not unlimited
The first version let you vote once and that was it. It was boring within a day. The version that shipped gives you three votes every day, each for a different candidate, and resets at midnight. That small change turned it from a one-time survey into something people vote daily on, usually with their morning coffee. You get to back your favourite and still hedge with two others, and tomorrow you can change your mind.
It also solves a problem I had not expected: people wanted to vote for both a former manager they miss and a current name they are curious about. Three votes lets them do that without choosing.
I will be honest about what this is. It is an unofficial fan poll. Votes are per device, there is no login, and if someone reinstalls the app to vote again, that is a limitation I chose to accept rather than build an account system for a football argument. Treat the numbers as a mood reading, not a census.
Twenty names, no photos, and the rule I would not break
The candidate list has twenty entries: former Korea national football team managers, foreign coaches whose names have come up at every coaching change, and a few rising K League bosses. Each card carries just the facts — name, current club or role, one line of public career history — and nothing else.
The decision that took longest was the one about images. I looked at using photos. I looked at caricatures. I ended up using neither, because these are real, living public figures and the app is a piece of entertainment, not journalism. Every candidate is drawn as a country-code badge with initials and a colour. It looks plainer than a photo grid, and it is the reason I can sleep at night.
For the same reason the app says, in the first screen and at the bottom of the ranking, that it has nothing to do with any coach, club or the Korea Football Association. The results are a fan poll for fun. If that framing sounds cautious, it is, on purpose.
